SXSW may not bring bands love on Twitter, but according to data from Rhapsody, the bands performing at the Rhapsody Rocks day party saw as much as 500 percent growth in streams after the event.
The average number of plays of Washed Out, Zola Jesus, Caveman, Tanlines and Gauntlet Hair on Rhapsody increased 152 percent from the week before they took the Rhapsody Rocks stage and the week after. Streams of the bands spiked the Tuesday after SXSW at a rate of 500 percent compared to the same day the previous week. As the chart below indicates, while playback did taper some since, all bands are continuing to benefit from sustaining popularity on the Rhapsody service.
The sold-out event brought more than 3,500 people to Club DeVille on March 16, and Rhapsody editorial brought the show to Rhapsody members through playlists and features on The Mix, the home for Rhapsody’s original content, driving awareness and paid plays to Rhapsody Rocks performers.
